There is also a number of binding options and in some cases pages are glued, although stapled, wire bound and perfect bound are also popular choices. In case you're not sure which binding option is best for you, here is a brief explanation of each type: Glued:
  • In the glued binding process, the sheets are placed one after the other and individually folded. Various types of glue can be used and this is a simple but effective way to bind the pages together. The spine is milled, sanded, and the paper dust removed so that the glue can penetrate deeply into the paper fibers.
Stapled:
  • Stapling (also known as saddle stitching or wire saddle stitching), is a simple but effective way to bind a book. All that is needed is a few wire staples to staple the interleaved and folded sheets of paper together at the folds.
Wire Bound:
  • With wire bound printing the printed pages are stacked and hole punched along one edge. A wire binding is then fed through the holes to hold the pages together. Wire bound booklets can be bound at the left or top edge so your document can read as landscape or portrait depending on your needs.
Perfect Bound:
  • This is similar to a glued binding and is often used on a softcover type in which a few pages are collected and glued on the spine. The perfect bound book or perfect bound book includes the front cover, spine, back cover and interior pages. Because the book or booklet looks clean and sharp after binding, it is known as “perfect bound”.
